March 18 – A star studded program of racing at Randwick last Saturday featured two top class juvenile stakes-winners in Hinchinbrook and Crystal Lily – their success sure to put the spotlight on a filly entered for Inglis Easter that quite possibly combines the best of both.

To be offered by Yarraman Park, who foaled and raised Hinchinbrook, is Lot 364, a filly by his sire Fastnet Rock from the stakes-winner Crystal Wit, who is a half-sister to Crystal Lily.

“She’s a full sister to stakes-placed Fast Talker who we sold at Easter in 2008 for $320,000 and the pedigree has improved quite a bit since then with Crystal Lily coming along and also classy three year-old Carrara, so there is a bit happening in that family,” said Arthur Mitchell.

The win of Hinchinbrook last Saturday was a source of great satisfaction for Yarraman Park, who have enjoyed a long and fruitful association with the colt’s owner Francois Naude.

“Bill (Mitchell) bought his mother Snippets’ Lass for Francois as a yearling and trained her throughout her career and then she retired here to Yarraman,” Mitchell recalled.

“She did an outstanding job at stud and it was very sad to lose her after foaling Hinchinbrook, so we are thrilled for Francois that he is going so well.”

As a stakes-winning three-quarter brother to Group One winner and promising young sire Snitzel, Hinchinbrook has been the subject of keen interest as a stallion prospect.

“He’s a horse that ticks all the boxes – great temperament, pedigree, type and ability, we would love to see him stand here at Yarraman one day as we’ve had such a history with his family,” Mitchell added.

Hinchinbrook’s sire Fastnet Rock has been a popular choice for Yarraman Park mares since his retirement in 2005.

“He’s a stallion we had a lot of confidence in and have supported every year so far,” said Mitchell.

Fastnet Rock is the sire of three additional Inglis Easter yearlings for Yarraman apart from the Crystal Wit filly mentioned above.

Lot 288 is a big strapping colt from stakes-winner Andrella and is bred on the similar Danehill x Dehere cross to Golden Slipper winner Forensics.

Lot 333 is a half-brother to stakes-winner Cocinero from good producer Cantinela.

Lot 574 is a colt from stakes-placed Margarine, a half-sister to stakes-winner
