Scone, April 20 – Chilean Horse of the Year Trotamondo (Chi) became the latest son of Hussonet to sire a winner when his two year-old filly Magondo scored easily at Scone on Friday.

The Albert Stapleford trained filly had placed at her two previous starts at Gosford and Canterbury, so was well fancied to win this easier assignment.

Drawn barrier 14 in a field of 14, Magondo overcame the outside gate to score a dominant two length win in the 1100 metre open juvenile event.

Magondo was a $15,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2011 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Purrpurrlena and Star Cat being one of six winners from the good producing stakes-winner Magdalena.

Magdalena has a weanling filly by I Am Invincible and is back in foal to the same sire.

Magondo is the first winner from just four runners by Yarraman Park based Trotamondo, a triple Group I winning son of leading sire Hussonet.
