Sydney, October 4 – Unbeaten colt Hallowed Crown won the Group I ATC Golden Rose at his most recent run, but lost his unbeaten status at Randwick on Saturday when finishing fourth behind brilliant I Am Invincible colt Brazen Beau in the Group II ATC Roman Consul Stakes.

Prepared by Chris Waller, Brazen Beau enjoyed a perfect run for Joao Moreira and proved too good in kicking clear to win the 1200 metre dash by nearly two lengths in a brisk 1:09.04.

It was the second run back from a spell for the son of I Am Invincible, who was a Group II winner last season and is clearly among the best sprinters of his age group.

“He is a pretty handy horse and things just haven’t gone right for him this preparation, mainly because of the wet weather. We didn’t have time to have him ready for the Golden Rose which was the race he was originally going to be set for,” said Chris Waller.

“We didn’t panic and we sent him to Melbourne which looked the next best option. The first time up the straight he got a bit lost and he has improved with that run. It was good to see him bounce back today, he is a very good colt.”

A $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the draft of Murrulla Stud for Ontrack Thoroughbreds, Brazen Beau runs for a big group of owners, who are entitled to be feeling very optimistic about his future with Chris Waller declaring the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington the next target for their rising star.

With three wins and two seconds from seven starts and prizemoney topping $410,000, Brazen Beau is the best of five stakes-winners by his young sire I Am Invincible, who was Champion First Season Sire for 2013/2014.

Bred by Bernie Howlett, who also trained his mother, Brazen Beau is the second winner for former handy juvenile Sansadee, who was third in a Group III Canberra Black Opal Stakes.

Sansadee has been a regular visitor to I Am Invincible and her two year-old filly by him sold for $65,000 in Session Five at Magic Millions earlier this year.

She missed to him in 2012, so had no foal last year, but was one of 175 mares covered by the son of Invincible Spirit (IRE) last spring.
