Making headlines last week when his service fee was raised for 2015 to $55,000, Yarraman Park based I Am Invincible added a new chapter to his Inglis Classic story with his progeny helping drive the sale to new heights on Day Two of the 2015 Summer Book in Sydney.
The 2015 Inglis Classic Summer Book has already surpassed the gross from last year’s entire sale and with an extra day to go the average is 28% higher and median 35% greater than 2014’s figures.
20 lots representing 14 different sires have made $100,000 or more over the first two days of the sale, a rise from 15 last year, including Yarraman Park Stud’s colt by I Am Invincible from Pure Ebony(Lot 329) which sold today for $300,000 to Gai Waterhouse Racing on behalf of Greg and Donna Kolivos.
The colt is the second foal of Pure Ebony, a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Conquering Queen, who is by I Am Invincible’s sire Invincible Spirit (IRE).
Yarraman Park Stud and Arrowfield Stud have both sold 11 yearlings each for an average of $80,000, with their young stallions I Am Invincible and Smart Missile attracting plenty of buyer support.
I Am Invincible and the Classic Sale are intertwined.
In the opening chapter he was sold from the first crop of Invincible Spirit at the Classic Sale, in Chapter Two I Am Invincible showed his precocious ability on the track before retiring to Yarraman Park Stud, sired Group 1 winning son Brazen Beau which sold from his first crop here at Classic, and now he’s riding high with ten of his progeny selling at an average of $90,000.
12 yearlings by I Am Invincible and five by Smart Missile are among the 184 lots set to be offered on the third and final day of the 2015 Inglis Classic Summer Book.
