The aptly named I Am Invincible colt Super One maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive win at Kranji on Friday taking out the Singapore Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Final Sng Gr 2 with a dominant performance.
Super One jumped fast and led throughout for Craig Newitt, dashing away to win the 1200 metre sprint as he pleased by five lengths.
Relief and joy were the first visible emotions in the winning team, as well as high expectations, especially after trainer Michael Freedman intimated a trip to Australia could be on the cards.
“It’s a big relief he won especially when you are the short-priced favourite going into a big race like this,” he said .
“He was in a good mood in the parade ring, which was a very good sign. He behaved himself very well.
“He’s always shown enormous ability early doors and has great speed. I’ve spoken with the owners and we are toying with the idea of taking him to Melbourne in November.
“We’ll see how he pulls up first. He’s still got plenty of scope for improvement, but he sure is a very exciting horse.”
Newitt, who had all along sung the praise of the undefeated juvenile (in three starts), looked even more blown away than at his first two wins, which were recorded by combined margins of more than five lengths.
“This two-year-old is just ready, very classy. I’ve ridden another two-year-old who won a Group 1, Samaready in the Blue Diamond Stakes (2012) and this one is as good as any two-year-old you would ever see.
“He can run the times, put himself in the best spot. He did change strides tonight and that’s why I had to shake him up a bit.
“I thought there would be another horse who would roll up and challenge us, but he’s got a really good turn of foot and he was never going to get beaten.
“I’ve always seen him improve with every run. He is a galloper who just goes to the next level and gets better and better all the time.
“This is by far his best win. I think Michael has planned bigger things for him and I’m sure he is the right horse to bring to Australia.
Super One is the latest racetrack star for Yarraman Park’s sire star I Am Invincible.
He was purchased by his trainer Michael Freedman in partnership with New Zealand based bloodstock agent Michael Wallace for $190,000 from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds at the 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Raced by Andre Lim of Super Easy fame and other partners, Super One is the first named foal of unraced Tale of the Cat mare Tails Wins and was bred by Reg Kemister.
Tails Wins is from the six time winning and stakes performed US import Multiple Wins, a daughter of stakes-winner Princess Sybil from the family of Group I winning European sprinter Les Arcs, winner of a Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Stakes.
Tails Wins has a weanling filly by I Am Invincible.
Super One is the sixth stakes-winner for I Am Invincible, who is already booked full this season at the increased fee of $55,000.
