Our outstanding young sire I Am Invincible added a new feature winner to his tally in Brisbane on Saturday when Look to the Stars captured the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes at Doomben.
She might have been sent out at long odds, but a closer look at the recent form of Look to the Stars paints a picture of bad luck and missed opportunity.
Prepared by Clarry Conners, Look to the Stars won in good style at Warwick Farm on March 4, but in three runs since then in stakes races, good luck has deserted her.
Featuring in the steward’s report on each occasion, Look to the Stars has had her excuses, but when things went her way on Saturday she showed her true colours under a good ride from Luke Tarrant to win the 1400 metre contest by a short neck.
Look to the Stars was a modest $26,000 Inglis Scone purchase for Darby Racing from the Yarraman Park draft and has proven a great investment for her lucky owners in winning two races and placing twice from eight starts earning $229,400.
Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, she is the second winner for Argentinean Group II winner Star Prize (Arg), a daughter of More Than Ready’s sire Southern Halo.
Her current yearling, a colt by I Am Invincible, sold for considerably more money than Look to the Stars, purchased by James Harron Bloodstock/Snowden Racing for $160,000 at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from the draft of Ferndale Farm, who now own the mare having bought her for just $8,000 in 2013.
Look to the Stars is the seventh stakes-winner for superstar young sire I Am Invincible, whose best son Brazen Beau finished second in the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes last year and is now headed to Royal Ascot.
I Am Invincible is fully booked for this spring at a fee of $55,000.
