The win of the Hinchinbrook filly Flippant in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone on May 16 was franked when Flippant once again proved too good for the Fastnet Rock filly Harlem River in Saturday’s $100,000 Listed James Boag’s Premium Lancaster Stakes (1200m) at Doomben

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Flippant defeated Harlem River by two and a quarter lengths at Scone but things were a tad closer here as the first two put a margin on the chasing pack.

Sent off as an-odds on favourite, Flippant gave her supporters little concern as Hugh Bowman drove the daughter of Hinchinbrook to a one and a quarter length win over Harlem River with Opinionated (Markane) three and a quarter length back in third.

In earning her second stakes victory, Flippant advances her overall record to three wins and one second from five starts for earnings of $172,710.

Trainer Peter Snowden said Flippant would now be spelled with a view to the spring carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne.

“She is a big filly but she has been immature,” Snowden told AAP.

“The key to her has been dry tracks and the addition of blinkers which we put on before she won her previous start at Scone.”

“I think she is a sprinting type and won’t get her out too far. But you never know,” he said.

A $220,000 purchase for McKeever Bloodstock from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale, Flippant  is the second winner from two to race for Lady Beckworth (General Nediym) who is a winning half-sister the Zabeel mare Regard the dam of Group I stars Atlantic Jewel and Commanding Jewel.

Bred by Bruce Reid Racing, Flippant was the most expensive filly from the first crop of Yarraman Park Stud’s Fastnet Rock stallion Hinchinbrook

Lady Beckworth has a weanling filly by Snitzel and was one of 211 mares to visit I Am Invincible at Yarraman Park last spring.
