The juvenile trial at Rosehill on Tuesday morning featured seven runners with victory going to Magic Albert filly Albert’s Lass over Amber Isle, who is a daughter of Hinchinbrook. Trained at Gulgong by Brett Thompson, Albert’s Lass was well educated for her first public outing jumping smartly from a wide gate to surge across and take up the lead for Winona Costin. She travelled easily in front and railed well around the home turn to skip away and win the 900 metre heat by four lengths in 54.30, the time comparing most favourably with the older horses. Amber Isle finished well to beat the rest of the field comfortably in the Star Thoroughbreds colours for Chris Waller. Passed in at Inglis Classic, Albert’s Lass was retained to race by Bell River Thoroughbreds and is the first foal of winning Street Cry (IRE) mare Street Lass, a daughter of stakes-placed Arthur’s Lass.
