A $220,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell Australia from the Yarraman Park draft, two year old Hinchinbrook filly Najmaat opened her account with a stylish victory at Caulfield on Saturday. She enjoyed a good run in transit for Nick Hall and found the line well to win the 1100 metre dash over well-seasoned colt Highland Beat by half a length with both youngsters prepared by David Hayes and Tom Dabernig. Najmaat started favourite when finishing fourth to The Seductress at her first start in January, but co-trainer Tom Dabernig said the filly pulled up with a minor problem after that outing. “She’s a filly that we’ve always had an opinion of,” Dabernig said. “We actually fancied her first time out and she just got a little bit wrong on that occasion but it was a good run and she pulled up stung up in the shins. “Today she had the advantage of barrier one and she had a great run in the race. She was able to put them away and did a good job.” A trip to Sydney for a Black Type event is now under consideration for the talented filly. Najmaat is the second winner for Advantage Receiver, a half-sister by Giant’s Causeway (USA) to Group III winner Oakleigh Girl from Group I VATC Oakleigh Plate winner Miss Kournikova.
