Sydney, May 1 – Classy Magic Albert sprinter Al Be Nimble was considered unlucky when a late closing second in the Listed AJC Hallmark Stakes at Randwick on Wednesday.
Squeezed out at the start and forced back to the rear, the Gwenda Markwell trained four year-old zoomed home to be beaten just over a length behind Wasted Emotions and is the horse to follow out of the race.
With five wins and five seconds from 12 starts and earnings of $232,800, Al Be Nimble appeals as a great candidate for the Brisbane Winter Carnival with a host of suitable races coming up.
Magic Albert also featured at Flemington on Anzac Day when the Adelaide based filly Princess Joy made a successful Melbourne debut when winning the open three year-old fillies event over 1200 metres.
Stakes-placed at her previous run for Murray Bridge trainer Kylie Huxtable, Princess Joy has not missed a place in seven starts, winning three races and placing four times for earnings of $131,300.
Both Al Be Nimble and Princess Joy are from Danzig line mares, the former from Danehill mare Nimble (IRE) and the latter from the Perugino (USA) mare Dominita.
