Sydney, May 14 – Australia’s leading first season sire I Am Invincible struck early at Canterbury on Wednesday when two year-old gelding I Am Impressed zoomed home from back in the field to tip out the blue-blooded favourites in the 1250 metre juvenile maiden.

Lining up against Duty First (three-brother by Redoute’s Choice to Group I winners Red Tracer and Shellscrape) and Highward (full brother to multiple Group I winner Shoot Out), the Ron Quinton trained I Am Impressed improved on his encouraging debut fourth at Canterbury last month.

Ridden patiently by Sam Clipperton, he found the line strongly over the last furlong to win by a neck.

“That was pretty impressive,” said Ron Quinton.

“On a short turning track he gave them a good start and had to make up many lengths.”

A $60,000 Magic Millions buy back from the Yarraman Park draft for Ray Gall’s Pedrille Thoroughbreds, I Am Impressed is the 13th winner for I Am Invincible, who was also raced by the Gall family and comes from their famous Pedrille dynasty featuring Group II winners O’Lonhro and Mamzelle Pedrille, who was also trained by Ron Quinton.

“The I Am Invincible’s are flying, they are going really well,” said Quinton.

“The Gall family have been clients of mine for a very long time, so it was a great to win for them.”

Connections will enjoy the win today before making any decisions on where I Am Impressed heads next.

Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, I Am Impressed is the first foal of Impressions, an unraced sister to Group II winner Hosannah the dam of Group II winner Altar.

Yarraman Park sold the current yearling from Impressions, a colt by Altar’s sire Commands for $105,000 at Magic Millions earlier this year and Impressions has a weanling filly by I Am Invincible to follow and is back in foal to him again.

I Am Invincible has had a deserved service fee increase for this spring and will stand at $27,500.
