A blue-blooded Foxwedge filly from the family of $7million earner Criterion, Commonwealth cast off maiden status at Kembla on Tuesday.

Prepared by Chris Waller, Commonwealth improved sharply at her third race start and coming off an 11 week freshen up. She travelled just behind the leaders for Hugh Bowman from gate two and scored a head win in the 1000 metre maiden. A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, Commonwealth runs in the brown and white colours of the Henderson family and partners. Bred by Yarraman Park and partners, she is the first winner for Our Pride and Joy, a half-sister by Canny Lad to four-time Group I winner Criterion, Group II winner Varenna Miss, Group III winner Comin’ Through and stakes-winner Silently.
