Warrnambool, April 30 – Purchased from the Patinack Farm Reduction at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last year for $380,000 by BBA Ireland, Encosta de Lago mare Kneeling provided her new owners with another good result when taking out the Listed Wangoom Handicap at Warrnambool on Wednesday.
Now trained by Peter Moody for the Yarraman Park Syndicate and his wife Sarah, Kneeling did best in a thrilling finish to win the 1200 metre sprint in heavy 10 conditions by a nose.
Winning jockey Linda Meech was rapt after Kneeling’s win in the time-honoured bush handicap.
“I’ve had plenty of practice riding down at the Western District tracks and it’s a huge thrill,” Meech said.
“I rode her work Tuesday and went to check on her Saturday just to make sure she was still good.
“She worked the house down and I would have declared her in any other race.
“I want to thank Pete Moody and the owners for putting me on her and I’m just so excited.”
A stakes-winner at three in the Listed MVRC Crockett Stakes, Kneeling has since put together the overall record of four wins and six placings from 24 starts with prizemoney nearing $300,000.
Kneeling is the best of three winners from stakes-placed Sunday Silence mare Sunday Service, a half-sister to stakes-winner Express Power from the family of champion sire Danehill and Caulfield Cup winner Diatribe.
