Sydney, January 17 – Popular Gold Coast based owner Yvonne Smith tasted success at Rosehill on Saturday with Kingda Ka and was back in the winner’s circle at Wyong on Wednesday with Catbird three year-old Armstrong Jones.

Starting a short priced favourite after finishing a close third when resuming from a spell at Canterbury on January 3, the Gai Waterhouse trained Armstrong Jones led for home and fought on well to win the 1350 metre maiden by half a length at just his third race start.

A handsome individual, Armstrong Jones was knocked down to Gai Waterhouse for $360,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale making him the most expensive yearling sired by Catbird in 2006.

Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Armstrong Jones is from the stakes-placed Zoffany (USA) mare Annalea, a full -sister to Cantinela, the dam of recent Melbourne stakes-winner Cocinero.

Yarraman Park also own Cantinela as well as Annalea and the pair both have yearlings to be offered by Yarraman at sales in 2008.

Annalea has a Catbird colt that is a full brother to Armstrong Jones and will be offered at the 2008 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, while Cantinela has a yearling full brother to Cocinero by Encosta de Lago that will be offered in Melbourne at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in the draft of Phoenix Broodmare Farm as agent as Lot 375.
