Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell colours have enjoyed a lot of success aboard Inglis Easter purchases in South Africa in recent years and while exciting two year-old filly Al Hawraa is an Australian homebred for them, her dam was an Inglis Easter purchase. The Mike de Kock trained New Approach (IRE) filly Al Hawraa made it two wins in as many starts when she took out the non-Black Type King’s Pact Stakes at Scottsville on Sunday over 1000 metres by a length and a half. Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park for Shadwell, she is the first foal of minor winning Redoute’s Choice mare Ijaaza, who was bought by Shadwell for $500,000 at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Reavill Farm. Ijaaza comes with a big pedigree being a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I winners Anamato and Dealer Principal from the family of champion galloper Grand Armee. She has a Lonhro colt to follow and was covered by Denman last year. Al Hawraa is from the final Australian crop of foals by Darley’s Epsom Derby winner New Approach, who is the sire of this season’s brilliant Melbourne based filly Sword of Light, winner of the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview.
