November 3 – Star producer Oceanfast has done it again for Yarraman Park in producing a cracking bay colt by leading young sire Exceed and Excel.
A half-brother to champion mare Alinghi and stakes-placed performers Perfect Persuasion and Slice of Paradise, the handsome bay colt was born on October 20.
Acquired privately by Yarraman Park in 2003, Oceanfast has been a perfect producer delivering six consecutive foals for the Mitchell family.
The first of those, a colt by King Charlemagne (USA) fetched $525,000 at the 2005 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale when bought by Tim Stakemire and went on to win several races for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum under the name of Musaytir.
Her next three foals, two fillies and a colt, have all been by Alinghi’s sire Encosta de Lago and have all sold well fetching $2.6 million (Perfect Persuasion), $1.4 million (Azumi) and then $2.2 million at Easter this year for a colt that went to Anthony Cummings.
Next to hit the sale ring will be a glorious bay colt by Redoute’s Choice that is slated to appear at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next year following in the successful path of his siblings.
A decision is yet to be made on a partner for Oceanfast this spring.
