Resuming from a spell at Sandown on Saturday, the Gai Waterhouse trained Hinchinbrook gelding Brooklyn (pictured as yearling) gave a great sight to be beaten half a length in finishing third to Thurlow in the Group III MRC Chairmans Stakes.
A winner at the early season trials and not beaten far in two runs in Sydney during the spring, Brooklyn looked well up to winning a nice race this preparation with his effort on Saturday.
A $150,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gai Waterhouse/James Harron Bloodstock, Brooklyn runs for Segenhoe Thoroughbreds and partners and is the first foal of good metropolitan winner Believe ānā Achieve, who had another filly by Hinchinbrook last spring.
Hinchinbrook filly Moment of Music also turned in a good effort at Sandown, hitting the front in the straight after turning for home in the $250,000 Inglis Premier before fading to run fifth.
A two time winner at Scone before heading to Melbourne, she ran a brave race and will be winning her share in the future.
