Brisbane, December 27 – Smart two year-old colt Carlton Forward confirmed his potential with a gallant second to boom filly Paprika in the Listed BTC Tommy Smith Slipper at Doomben on Saturday.
An easy last start winner at Flemington on December 13, the Peter Moody trained Carlton Forward acquitted himself well at his first appearance away from home and will be further improved for the Magic Millions Two Year Old Classic on January 10.
A $65,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park, Carlton Forward is the first foal of stakes-placed Carlton Ace by first season sire Charge Forward.
A slick juvenile herself, Carlton Ace is a half-sister to juvenile stakes-winner Carlton Spirit so it’s no wonder her first foal has hit the ground running.
Carlton Ace has an outstanding Catbird filly entered as Lot 312 for the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and produced a Magic Albert filly this spring.
