Flemington, November 1 – Talented Stratum filly Mabsam gained her first sniff of Black Type when she powered to the line at Flemington on Tuesday to run a good second to Combat Kitty in the Listed VRC Lexus Hybrid Plate over 1400 metres.
A $240,000 purchase for Shadwell from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Mabsam was also bred by Yarraman Park and is a half-sister to Group III MRC Eclipse Stakes winner Viking Hero being one of five winners from the Zabeel mare Gypsy Dollar, a half-sister to Group I AJC Australian Derby winner Innocent King.
Trained by David Hayes, Mabsam has done a good job to date with a win and three seconds from just five starts and prizemoney in excess of $50,000.
Gypsy Dollar has a yearling full brother to Mabsam.
