Brisbane, December 12 – Promising Magic Albert filly Madeitothemoon went within a short half head of a valuable Black Type win when she was nosed out of victory in the Listed BTC Mode Stakes over 1200 metres at Doomben on Saturday.
Now trained by Wayne Wilkes for Les Tinkler’s Serene Lodge Racing, Madeitothemoon had scored easy wins at her last two runs in the country and was well backed to figure in this much tougher assignment.
Well ridden by Peter Robl, Madeitothemoon enjoyed a good run in transit just off the pace and sprinted quickly in the straight appearing certain to win until being touched out on the line by Swiss Rose.
A $37,500 purchase from the draft of Stratheden Stud at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Madeittothemoon has the smart record of three wins and four placings from 10 starts with prizemoney in excess of $85,000.
She is from the Luskin Star mare Our Promise, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to former brilliant juvenile Bold Promise, the dam of Golden Slipper winner Merlene and dual Group One winner Miss Pennymoney.
Madeitothemoon is one of 30 winners this season for Magic Albert, who has big drafts of yearlings at upcoming sales including 20 for the 2010 Magic Millions on the Gold Coast.
