Geelong, June 22 – The all black colours of Black Caviar’s breeder Rick Jamieson were carried to victory at Geelong on Friday by blue-blooded filly Gioe, a $270,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park.

The Mick Kent trained filly was sent out a heavily backed favourite for the 1900 metre maiden and always looked the winner, settling just off the pace and then powering home to win by a length and a half.

By Hussonet (USA) from the dual Group I winning Danehill (USA) mare Magical Miss, Gioe has always shown ability, finishing third in the Listed MRC Ethereal Stakes back in the spring and fifth to Mosheen in the Group I VRC Oaks, so a win was well overdue.

Selected and purchased on the advice of Irish bloodstock agent Dermot Farrington for Rick Jamieson’s Gilgai Farm, Gioe is the fourth winner from Magical Miss and is a half-sister to ill-fated stakes-placed performer Weasley.

Yarraman Park sold a More Than Ready (USA) filly from Magical Miss at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $425,000 to Belmont Bloodstock and the mare is due to foal to Lonhro later this year.
