June 13 – With red hot sire Fastnet Rock priced at $220,000 this season, many breeders seeking value are looking hard at his burgeoning list of sire sons with Yarraman Park already announcing the book for Hinchinbrook has been closed.

A Group III winning and Group I placed son of Fastnet Rock, Hinchinbrook covered 119 mares last year at a fee of $16,500.

“We’ve capped his book at 120 mares and have had a big response to him again this year,” said Harry Mitchell.

“Magic Albert has had great results this year and is also very close to full.”

The appeal of Hinchinbrook is not confined to his sire Fastnet Rock as he is also a three-quarter brother to Group I winner Snitzel, who is currently leading the Australian Third Season Sires division with five stakes-winners and progeny earnings in excess of $5 million.

Snitzel posted his first Group I winner last Saturday when exciting colt Sizzling won the Group I BRC TJ Smith Stakes, that success coming hot on the heels of his two year-old filly Snitzerland running second in the Golden Slipper and three year-old filly Aliyana Tilde finishing second in the Group I ATC Australian Oaks.

Hinchinbrook has the hot sire and the hot female pedigree and it won’t be long before we see his first foals.
