Canberra, February 23 – Astute trainer Guy Walter produced a winner at Canberra on Sunday that had everybody talking.
Magic Albert three year-old Alberto Magic was in a class of his own as he opened up to win the 1000 metre maiden on debut by nine lengths in a slick 57.26 seconds as favourite.
Retained to race by his breeder, Alberto Magic is the second winner for Red Feather, a winning daughter of former flying filly Mother Duck, who won nine races highlighted by the Group III AJC Gimcrack Stakes.
The Mother Duck family has enjoyed plenty of success in recent years to produce stakes-winners such as Ladys Angel, Anatina, Pricked, Miss Bux and Atomic, with Alberto Magic looming as another horse of serious potential.
A proven sire of four Group I winners, Magic Albert has half a dozen entries for the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
