Sydney, September 30 – Catbird four year-old Armstrong Jones is really starting to capitalize on the promise he has always shown, cruising away to win the restricted event over 1550 metres at Randwick on Tuesday by three lengths.
The win provided some consolation for popular Gold Coast based owner, Yvonne Smith, whose $2million colt Seventh Reason was beaten into second place earlier in the day.
A handsome individual, Armstrong Jones was knocked down to his trainer Gai Waterhouse for $360,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale making him the most expensive yearling sired by Catbird in 2006.
He has now won three races and placed four times from nine starts earning just over $50,000 in prizemoney and appears as though the best is still to come.
Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Armstrong Jones is from the stakes-placed Zoffany (USA) mare Annalea, a full -sister to Cantinela, the dam of smart Melbourne stakes-winner Cocinero.
Yarraman Park also own Cantinela as well as Annalea and the pair both have yearlings by Commands and Catbird respectively.
