Adelaide, July 28 – Smart Adelaide based Catbird colt Catapulted resumed from a spell to lead all the way and win at Cheltenham on Saturday carrying 58 kg.

The Mark Kavanagh trained two year-old proved way too good in taking the 1000 metre juvenile event by nearly three lengths, having not raced since finishing seventh to Augusta Proud in the Adelaide Magic Millions on February 9 having won his only previous start on debut.

Catapulted was purchased by Kavanagh for $90,000 at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Adelaide and runs for a large group of owners.

Offered for sale by leading South Australian stud farm Mill Park and bred by them in partnership with Bob and Helen Dinham, Catapulted is the second foal of the Umatilla mare Siren Miss, a winning sister to stakes-winner Umatune.

Catapulted is one of eight two year-old winners this season for ill-fated Golden Slipper winner Catbird, who is also the third leading sire in Australia this season by individual winners behind only Encosta de Lago and Commands.

The last progeny of Catbird will be sold at yearling sales in 2009.
