Sydney, August 2 – Golden Slipper Catbird begun the new season in a winning vein when his four-year old daughter Shanambah saluted at Canterbury in the Class Three event for fillies and mares.

Prepared by Gerald Ryan, Shanambah showed the benefit of a first up second on July 12 to score a tenacious short neck victory, her fourth from 14 starts.

Purchased for $57,500 from the draft of Carramar Park Stud as agent at the 2004 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Shanambah has recouped costs for her group of lucky owners winning $92,550 to date.

Shanambah is the fifth foal of the winning Canny Lad mare Canny, a terrific producer of five winners.

Canny Lad mares have enjoyed spectacular success when mated to sons of Danehill (USA) with superior runners from the celebrated cross including Catbird’s Group Three winner Collate.
