Melbourne, July 16 – The open mares sprint at Caulfield on Saturday was won by the fast finishing Lad Mahler, a $70,000 purchase from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Trained by Clinton McDonald, Lady Mahler went into this race off an impressive victory at Sale last month and ran right up to that good form to charge home and win the 1100 metre dash by a half neck.

Lady Mahler has won three races and placed second three times from nine starts and won over $71,000 for her large group of owners.

A half-sister by Al Maher to handy metropolitan winners Barrenjoey Sunrise and Accolade, Lady Mahler is from the stakes-winning mare Promise Me (NZ), who died in 2008.
