Melbourne, April 6 – The open juvenile event at Sandown on Wednesday was won in fine style by first starter Celebrity Girl, a $500,000 purchase for Mark Kavanagh from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
By Starcraft from stakes-winner Dashing Granada, Celebrity Girl was sent out favourite and justified punters support when coasting home to win the 1000 metre dash by the best part of two lengths.
The most expensive yearling by Starcraft sold in 2010, Celebrity Girl is the fourth winner for Dashing Granada and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Albaicin from the family of stakes-winners Northeast Sheila, Kablammo and Jacqueline Rouge.
Yarraman Park sold the current yearling from Dashing Granada, a filly by Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) on Wednesday at Inglis Easter for $140,000 to Bruce Elkington.
