Adelaide, October 14 – Ill-fated Golden Slipper winner Catbird featured in Adelaide on Saturday with a metropolitan double at Cheltenham courtesy of Fellina and Kitty Up.

The Peter Jolly trained mare Fellina was always handy before skipping clear to win her restricted event over 1450 metres by nearly three lengths.

A handy performer, it was her third win and second metropolitan success from 17 starts.

Purchased by Peter Jolly for $107,500 at the 2005 Magic Millions Yearling Sale in Adelaide, she is out of the Balmerino mare Whitta Brinna (NZ), from the family of stakes-winner Bold Alliance, Come On Up and Warwick Castle.

Later in the day the Rui Severino trained gelding Kitty Up made it a double for Catbird when he won the Class Three event over 1000 metres by a length.

The four year-old had been in good form up in Darwin, but was having his first run in 11 weeks in powering away to score in the slick time of 57.15 seconds, taking his record to four wins and three placings from 15 starts.

A $20,000 purchase from the Kitchwin Hills draft at the 2005 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Kitty Up is from the Fuji Kiseki (Jpn) mare All Stitched Up.

Yarraman’s classy young sire Magic Albert also featured with a winner at the Werribee meeting in Victoria where the Peter Moody trained three year-old Éclair Magique scored at his second race start in the 1000 metre maiden.

The outbreak of EI in New South Wales and Queensland has had a marked impact on the progress of Magic Albert this season with so many of his progeny based in the two worst affected states.

His best horse to date however is the New Zealand based Group One winner Magic Cape, who is due in Melbourne in the next week and is still paid up for the Cox Plate after being beaten a whisker when third in the $2million Kelt Capital Stakes.
