Hong Kong, November 25 – Smart three year-old Craig’s Dragon made it back-to-back wins when he saluted in the Class Four event over 1000 metres, having broken his maiden just two weeks ago on November 11.

The John Moore trained son of Catbird, sat off the pace and when urged to take a split by Glen Boss moved swiftly to the lead and then held off a late challenge to win by three-quarters of a length in 57.60 seconds.

Craig’s Dragon was purchased for $150,000 from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where he was the only Catbird yearling in the catalogue.

Offered by Yarraman on behalf of the Cobcroft family, Craig’s Dragon is the 13th living foal of grand producer Steam Heat who passed away in 2006.

A prolific producer, the Salieri (USA) mare left a host of winners including the brilliant Group Three winner Hot as Hell and equally smart Listed winner Flaming Hot, who were interestingly sired by County, a Vain horse from the same female family as Craig’s Dragon’s sire Catbird.

The win of Craig’s Dragon capped a good weekend for Catbird, who enjoyed stakes success in Perth with Cats Fun returning to winning form in the Listed WATC Tattersalls Cup.
