The cheapest colt by Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible sold at the 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale made a winning debut at Pakenham on Tuesday.

Trained by Peter Moody, He’s Essential was sent out a short-priced favourite for the 1000m maiden on the all-weather track and after forging clear in the straight had enough left to hold off all challengers and win by a neck.

Winning rider Billy Egan was well pleased with the win.

“He’s got a lot of maturing to do and will keep on improving,” said Egan.

Bought by Moody Racing for just $190,000 from the Yarraman Park draft, He’s Essential runs for a big group of owners including members of the Moody family and has already been gelded.

Bred and sold by Yarraman, He’s Essential is a half-sister to stakes-placed Stellar Magic and is the fourth winner from stakes-placed Magic Albert mare Al’s Magic Miss.

He’s Essential is the 14th Australian 2YO winner this season for I Am Invincible, who stands this spring at a fee of $247,500.
