Melbourne, August 8 – Golden Slipper winner Stratum produced an impressive debut winner at Geelong last Friday, when the David Hayes trained three year-old filly Mabsam showed her rivals a clean pair of heels to win the 1000 metre maiden by two lengths beating older horses.

Mabsam settled midfield for Brad Rawiller and moved up four wide in the straight to win running away.

A $240,000 purchase for Shadwell from the Yarraman Park draft at the 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Mabsam is a half-sister to Group III MRC Eclipse Stakes winner Viking Hero and is one of five winners from the Zabeel mare Gypsy Dollar, a half-sister to Group I AJC Australian Derby winner Innocent King.
