Scone, January 28 – The winners have been flowing thick and fast for Magic Albert this season with the Paul Messara trained filly Margene adding to the tally with an impressive debut win as a short priced favourite at Scone last Thursday.

Margene dashed clear to win the 1100 metre maiden by a length and a half in class record time giving her connections cause for much optimism for the future.

Bought privately from her breeders Rheinwood Pastoral and John Allen, Margene is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I BTC Cup winner Albert the Fat and the majority of his owners are also in Margene.

Margene is the one of 11 winners from the Western Symphony (USA) mare Symphonetta, whose daughter Alemar, is the dam of Albert the Fat, who has won 10 races and more than $570,000 in prizemoney.

Magic Albert is having his best ever season at present with some 65 winners from 149 winners giving him a sparkling winner to runner rate of 43%.
