Brisbane, August 27 – Magic Albert featured at Eagle Farm on Wednesday with lightly raced four year-old Proto scoring at his second race start.

Trained at Oakey by Graham Banks, Proto improved on his debut second to score a neck win in the 1000 metre maiden after being well backed.

A half-brother to three other winners, Proto is the last foal of Snippets mare Princess Raffin, who died in 2005 and was a half-sister to Group Three winner Jester Royale.

The win of Proto follows on from another smart winner for Magic Albert earlier this week with the Paul Perry trained filly Magic Phoebe posting her third win from six starts when scoring easily at Muswellbrook on Monday.

A home-bred for Magic Albert’s owner Dennis Wilton, Magic Phoebe is the first foal of the winning Lion Hunter mare Ugly Juggly, who has a yearling full sister to Magic Phoebe and is due to foal again to Magic Albert this spring.
