Sydney, April 1 – David Payne’s terrific run with his juveniles continued at Randwick on Tuesday when he scored a first up win with Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) colt Baci Amore.
Supported at odds by punters, Baci Amore found the line strongly to win the 1300 metre event for restricted class two year-olds by a long neck in an encouraging debut.
A $180,000 purchase from the Coolmore draft at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year, Baci Amore is a half-brother to Group Three Canberra Black Opal winner Uber and stakes-placed Viva Caro being from the Covetous mare Coverage.
He is one of 25 Australian winners this season for Rock of Gibraltar (IRE), who is right there with the best of the sires whose oldest progeny are three year-olds.
Yarraman Park will offer Lot 650 at Part Two of the upcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the three-quarter sister to Baci Amore and Uber by first season sire Al Maher from Coverage.
