Melbourne, April 29 – Progressive Lonhro four year-old Veewap scored an easy victory at Sandown on Wednesday, racing away to win by more than two lengths in the Ratings 78 event over 1300 metres.

Placed at his first two runs back from a long spell, the Tony Vasil trained gelding was cherry ripe for this assignment and was sent out favourite, delivering the goods in fine style.

Sporting the renowned red, black and white colours of the late syndictator Harry Lawton, Veewap was snapped up from the draft of Yarraman Park at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $110,000 and has won four races and placed six times from 14 starts earning $70,655 in prizemoney.

Veewap has an impressive pedigree being a half-brother to Group Two winner So Gorgeous and Group Three winners Wild Queen and Cumbria from the top class producer Crowning Jewel, who is now retired from stud duties.
