Yarraman Park’s Hinchinbrook was Champion Australian First Season Sire last year and is the leading Australian Second Season Sire by earnings, his profile in the sale ring given a massive boost at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday when he delivered his first $1million youngster. Competition is a great thing and when two bidders are determined, fireworks can result as it did for the Hinchinbrook colt from stakes-placed Magic Albert mare Al’s Magic Miss. Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, as was his mother, who is by Yarraman Park’s stalwart sire Magic Albert, the handsome bay was bought by Lance O’Sullivan for Wexford Stables and is destined for Hong Kong. “He is a lovely physical that exceeded his pedigree,” said O’Sullivan. “He will be gelded and we will give him the time and patience to make sure he is a racehorse more than anything else. That is our priority. Hopefully he will make the grade in Hong Kong.” Al’s Magic Miss produced a filly by Hinchionbrook last year and is now in foal to Yarraman Park’s other young gun I Am Invincible. Hinchinbrook’s previous most expensive yearling was a colt sold earlier this year at Magic Millions that made $260,000 for Yarraman Park when bought by James Harron Bloodstock. Interestingly that colt is from Carlton Ace, who is the dam of Al’s Magic Miss, so this may well be a family on the verge of an upswing.
