August 19 – Yarraman Park have been delighted with the arrival of the first foals by their new stallion I Am Invincible, who is the sire of this eye-catching colt bred by well known breeder Ray Gall.
Foaled on August 11, the bay colt is the first foal of the young Octagonal mare Impressions, a full sister to multiple Group II winner Hosannah, the dam of last season’s Group II winning juvenile Altar.
I Am Invincible was purchased as a yearling by Ray Gall and raced successfully for the Gall family winning five races from 13 starts with prizemoney of $270,050 before his retirement to Yarraman Park last year.
A son of champion European sire Invincible Spirit (IRE), I Am Invincible’s best wins came in the Group III SAJC DC McKay Stakes (1100 metres) and Listed MRC Sir John Monash Stakes (1100 metres) as well as finishing a memorable second to Takeover Target in the Group I SAJC Goodwood Handicap.
A member of Mr Gall’s famed Mamzelle Pedrille family, I Am Invincible impressed many good judges with his masculine sprinter’s physique last spring and he covered 133 mares in his first season.
“He covered a good book last year and we already have 100 plus mares booked again this year,” said Harry Mitchell.
“The colt from Impressions is a cracker for a first foal, very correct, good size and plenty of quality.
“He’s had four foals born so far and all are bay.”
Other early arrivals for I Am Invincible include: a lovely bay filly born at Fairhill Farm out of Versatile Lady who is a ½ sister to stakes-winner and Group I placed Sarah Vee; a bay filly born at Kambula Stud out of smart winner Fasadina, a half-sister to stakes-winner Danedina and stakes-placed Obsidian Dragon; and a bay filly at Yarraman Park from the Magic Albert mare Magic Jennifer, a daughter of Group II winner Maitland Gold.
I Am Invincible stands at a fee of $11,000.
