Hong Kong, December 14 – Magic Albert figured in the winners list in Hong Kong for the first time on Wednesday night appearing as the sire of Happy Valley winner Magi Joy, which won a Brisbane juvenile event on June 21 before transferring to Hong Kong.
Now prepared by Peter Ho, Magi Joy settled in third spot on the fence before moving up to challenge for the lead in the straight. He then kicked clear to win the Class Four event over 1650 metres by half a length.
Purchased by his original trainer Neil Strong for $38,000 from the draft of Craigow Stud at the 2005 Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale, Magi Joy is the second foal of juvenile metropolitan winner La Tache, a daughter of the Storm Bird shuttle Mukaddamah (USA).
Magic Albert is the leading second crop sire in Australia by individual winners this season with 16 to his credit so far and as a result has been extremely popular with breeders this year covering by far his largest and best book of mares at a fee of $11,000.
Yarraman Park will offer an outstanding filly by Magic Albert during Session Five at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
Catalogued as Lot 946, she is a half-sister to Group Two winner Maitland Gold and stakes-placed Hwange, from the good producing mare Party Game (NZ).
