Tasmania, February 13 – Talented Singspiel (IRE) four year-old Colonel Parker landed his first Black Type victory in Hobart on Monday when he scored by a neck in the Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes over 1400 metres.
Foaled and raised in the Hunter Valley at Yarraman Park for breeder Paul Stone, Colonel Parker was passed in at the 2004 Inglis Sires Produce Yearling Sale before finding his way to Tasmania and arriving in the care of Longford trainer Bill Ryan.
An immediate success on the track, Colonel Parker won his first three starts in succession before coming unstuck in the Group One VRC Australian Guineas behind Apache Cat.
Placed to advantage in Tasmania since then, he has put together the tidy record of six wins from ten starts earning $134,923.
Colonel Parker is the third foal of good metropolitan winning mare La Molokai, a half-sister to stakes-winning sprinter Avulsion by Magic Millions winner Molokai Prince.
His third dam La Femme is a daughter of Fred Peisah’s fabulous producer Social Smile (GB), whose countless stakes-winning descendants include the likes of Regal Cheer, Razor Sharp and Super Elegant.
