Melbourne, January 2 – Lightly raced five year-old Catbird mare Louisville Dancer broke through for a well deserved win at Flemington on Monday.

The Robert Smerdon trained mare had been thereabouts in recent runs and did best in a tight finish to win the Ratings 82 event for mares over 1400 metres, her overall record now three wins and two placings from eight starts with prizemoney in excess of $70,000.

Louisville Dancer was bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park fetching a modest $35,000 when secured by Aquanita Racing at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale during Session II.

A half-sister to stakes-placed Top Slice and Bull Market, she is one of eight winners from Deja Slew (USA), who gained fame and fortune as the dam of a Redoute’s Choice colt, who topped the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for Yarraman Park when knocked down to big spending South African trainer Charles Laird for $3million.

Deja Slew passed away last year and her final foal is a two year-old colt by Trotamondo (Chi).
