Sydney February 11 – Foreplay posted an impressive winner at Randwick on Wednesday when the Clarry Conners trained gelding Decision Time maintained his unbeaten record to score a stylish victory.
An easy winner on debut at Kembla on January 16 when he became the first winner for his sire, Decision Time had little trouble transferring that good form to town, dashing clear to win the juvenile restricted event over 1000 metres by two and a half lengths.
“He’s a nice horse and he showed an electric turn of foot to win,” said winning rider Nash Rawiller.
“Clarry was very confident before the race and he was right.”
Not offered for sale, Decision Time is from the metropolitan winning Just Awesome mare Daunting Thought from the family of English Group One winner Hittite Glory.
A stakes-winning son of Danehill (USA), Foreplay was retired to Yarraman Park where he stood at a fee of $13,200 for his debut season, however fertility troubles have now curtailed his stud career.
“His fertility has never been that brilliant although was manageable when he was at around 70%, but it has gradually become worse and despite extensive testing and advice from experts both in Australia and overseas we have to accept that the horse has become infertile,” explained Arthur Mitchell.
“He will remain at Yarraman for the time being as we continue to monitor him in the hope of some improvement although he will not be standing in 2010 and covered only two mares last year which were on a free return and got neither in foal.”
Yarraman Park have now moved to replace Foreplay with brilliant sprinter I Am Invincible set to join the roster for 2010.
