Hong Kong, October 27 – Catbird five-year old Gung Ho landed his fourth win in Hong Kong at Happy Valley on Wednesday evening and has now won $HK2.7 million (approx $AUD466,000) in prizemoney.
Prepared by leading trainer John Moore, Gung Ho was always racing handy in the 1650 metre event and eventually prevailed to win his first Class Two assignment by a head in an exciting finish.
Gung Ho has won four races and placed seven times from 20 starts providing plenty of thrills for his owners Paul M F Cheng and Michael Ying Lee Yuen.
Purchased by Asian Bloodstock Services for $220,000 from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud at the 2003 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Gung Ho is the third living foal of good metropolitan winner Cotton Bay.
A half-sister to Group Two winner Reflected Image, Cotton Bay is also the dam of stakes-winning sprinter Stormcat Academy and her terrific yearling colt by Catbird has been entered for the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
A Yarraman Park owned mare, Cotton Bay also produced a stunning colt foal to Catbird this spring and will be covered by first season sire Foreplay who is doing an outstanding job in his debut season for Yarraman.
