Sydney, December 10 – Promising Magic Albert gelding Magic Cassius made a great impression at Canterbury on Friday when tackling metropolitan company for the first time.
Trained at Gosford by Angela Davies, Magic Cassius had been unbeaten this preparation in winning three races at Taree and Gosford and was well fancied in the restricted event over 1250 metres.
He lived up to expectation, leading throughout from a wide draw and the cruising home to score by two lengths with leading rider Corey Brown in the saddle, his overall record now four wins from five starts.
Retained to race, Magic Cassius is the first winner for Melbourne metropolitan winner Palace Archway, a half-sister to handy galloper Floral Insight from the family of stakes-winners Bulbasaur and Commanding Hope.
Magic Albert has been running hot this season with 48 winners of $2.2 million in prizemoney including four stakes-winners led by Group I winner Albert the Fat.
Magic Albert has 11 yearlings for the 2012 Magic Millions and a further 24 for Inglis Classic.
