Brisbane, May 10 – Promising I Am Invincible colt Brazen Beau scored a dominant victory in the Group II BRC Champagne Stakes at Doomben on Saturday to become the fourth stakes-winner for our red hot young sire.

Given a freshen up by his trainer Chris Waller after finishing fifth in the Listed ATC Lonhro Plate behind Alpha Miss in early March, Brazen Beau was tuned up with a recent barrier trial and arrived in Brisbane fit and ready to fire.

Ridden a confident race by Nash Rawiller, he was always well placed just behind the leaders and accelerated strongly in the straight to win the 1200 metre sprint by a length and three-quarters.

“I think his class shone through,” Rawiller said.

“He’s a pretty high quality horse.”

A $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the draft of Murrulla Stud for Ontrack Thoroughbreds, Brazen Beau runs for a big group of owners, who are entitled to be feeling very optimistic about his future.

With two wins from three starts and prizemoney just shy of $150,000, Brazen Beau will now follow the path charted last year by the Chris Waller trained Zoustar in heading towards the Group II BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) and Group I JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) in the coming weeks.

Bred by Bernie Howlett, who also trained his mother, Brazen Beau is the second winner for former handy juvenile Sansadee, who was third in a Group III Canberra Black Opal Stakes.

Sansadee has been a regular visitor to I Am Invincible and her yearling filly by him sold for $65,000 in Session Five at Magic Millions earlier this year.

She missed to him in 2012, so had no foal last year, but was one of 175 mares covered by the son of Invincible Spirit (IRE) last spring.

Brazen Beau is the fourth stakes-winner for I Am Invincible joining Vinnie Eagle, Bassillique and Fuld’s Bet.

I Am Invincible has had a deserved fee increase for 2014 and will stand at a fee of $27,500, up from $11,000.
