Brisbane, December 27 – In-form Magic Albert five year-old Albert Cadabra notched a winning hat-trick when he saluted over 1350 metres at Doomben on Saturday.

The Lawrie Mayfield-Smith trained gelding has been in superb form at late, his Doomben success coming on the back of wins at the Gold Coast on December 6 and Doomben on November 12, his overall record now seven wins and five placings from 23 starts with prizemoney of $81,400.

From the Bletchingly mare Our Rosalind, Albert Cadabra is one of more than 30 winners this season for Magic Albert, who also had a winner in New Zealand on Boxing Day in Albus.

Placed three times previously, Albus broke through to win at Awapuni over 1200 metres at his fifth race start for the Peter Hurdle stable.

Bred in Australia by Magic Albert’s owner Denis Wilton, Albus is from the Danzero mare Phoebe’s Bet.

Magic Albert has three yearlings catalogued for the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale including a sister to Group Three placed General Albert and a brother to Group Two placed Magic Jet.

At the 2009 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Magic Albert is poised to play a major part with an impressive draft of 18.
