Melbourne, September 15 – Highly rated three-year old Here de Angels, a $90,000 Slade Bloodstock purchase from the Magic Millions draft of Yarraman Park Stud, will attempt to maintain his unbeaten record at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
A runaway winner on debut at Cranbourne, the Lee Freedman trained gelding was equally impressive in scoring by four and a half lengths at his most recent appearance at Moonee Valley on August 30.
“The stable have liked him from day one but more recently he’s improved out of sight,” commented Rob Slade to AAP.
“He’s very immature mentally though and his coat isn’t even that good so although he has plenty of promise we’ve taken him along quietly so far in the spring. He ran super time at Moonee Valley last start and we expect him to go very well again there this weekend.”
The performance of Here De Angels on Saturday and the way he comes through the race will determine his future path this spring with possible goals including the Caulfield Guineas or a shorter target like the newly upgraded Group One VRC Ascot Vales Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day.
Also being taken into account is his eligibility for the rich $1million Magic Millions Three-Year Old Classic in January.
By Dehere (USA) from the Kenmare (Fr) mare Angelic Belle, Here de Angels was purchased privately as a foal from his breeder Lisa Randle and raised at Yarraman Park.
