Hinchinbrook filly Super Too was highlighted in a recent Juvenile Trial Watch story on Breednet and got the cash at Canberra on Sunday to the great delight of her big group of owners. Super Too proved she is in fact deserving of the same adjective as her older brother Super One, when she dominated the field to win the Lightning Ridge Inglis Bonus 2YO Plate over 1000m, securing a $50,000 bonus on top of the prizemoney for her large group of owners. Super Too jumped as favourite for the contest after a strong trial win at Warwick Farm earlier this month, and rewarded punters’ confidence when forging clear to win by a length. The second foal of unraced Tale of the Cat (USA) mare Tails Wins, Super Too was bred by Reg Kemister and initially failed to meet her reserve in the ring at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale when offered by Broadwater Thoroughbreds. She was later sold to Marc Conners for $25,000, who must be thrilled with his purchase given Super Too is now the half-sister to Champion Two-year-old in Singapore Super One and has won $69,300 at her first start. “After she passed in I went and had another two looks, and I just had to have her,” said Conners. “We initially targeted the Inglis Classic Race but we didn’t get there, and this was the next event on the Inglis Race Series calendar for two-year-olds so it was a no-brainer to debut her here. “She outweighs all the older mares at 520kg, she absolutely laps up her work and I was fairly confident going into today,” Conners said. Super Too has also secured herself a start in next month’s $280,000 Group III CRC Black Opal Stakes at the same track. “She was syndicated to all existing owners of mine, and our dream is obviously the Golden Slipper, so a start in the Black Opal will give a good indication as to whether we’re on track,” added Conners. Jockey Winona Costin is also positive about the filly’s future, commenting, “She pricked her ears and really enjoyed the race today. She relaxed so well and she indicates she’ll make light work of the 1200m.”
