Ballarat – The Peter Moody trained Mystical Miss kicked off her career with an impressive victory at Ballarat last Thursday.

The two year-old daughter of More Than Ready (USA) cruised home to win the 1000 metre dash by the best part of two lengths and looks to have a bright future.

A $425,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Belmont Bloodstock from the draft of Yarraman Park, Mystical Miss is the fifth winner from five foals to race for Group I VRC Oaks and VATC 1,000 Guineas winner Magical Miss, whose best offspring to date are stakes-placed performers Gioe and Weasley.

Magical Miss has no yearling for the sales this year, but did produce a Lonhro colt last spring and was subsequently covered by So You Think.

Also saluting later on the card was four year-old gelding Mega Rich, a half-brother by Exceed and Excel to multiple Group I winner Alinghi.

Bred and retained to race by Yarraman Park and partners, Mega Rich has improved at each of his four runs back from a spell following a very long lay-off and scored over 1400 metres by nearly two lengths.

Prepared by Anthony Freedman, Mega Rich has two wins and four placings from nine starts.

The current yearling from his dam Oceanfast is a colt by Fastnet Rock that is entered for the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
