Brisbane, July 4 – The Paul Messara trained Magic Albert three year-old Albert Nape scored an easy win at Ipswich on Friday as a red hot favourite.

An unlucky second at his only two previous starts, Albert Nape put that behind him and despite dwelling a touch at the start from barrier one, he worked through quickly to take up third position and when let loose in the straight he kicked right away to win the 1350 metre maiden by two and half lengths.

Albert Nape was purchased by Paul Messara Racing for $67,500 from the draft of Emerald Thoroughbreds at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

He is the seventh foal of the Miswaki mare Miss Neck (USA), a half-sister to stakes-winner Hearthstead Wings from stakes-winner Inishdalla.

Magic Albert also went close to siring a stakes-winner at Rosehill on Saturday when consistent four year-old Something Anything ran his usual bold race for third beaten a short head and a long head in the Listed STC Winter Stakes.
